Is Mathieu Flamini already regretting leaving Arsenal?
Had it not been for his defection to Italy last week, I reckon Mathieu Flamini might have finished a tad higher in our Player of the Season poll and given the weekend results in Serie A, the Frenchman himself may now be wishing he had waited a few weeks before making a final decision on his career path.
Because if you haven't heard, the Flamster's new club, AC Milan, will not be playing Champions League football next season after they were pipped for fourth spot in the league by Fiorentina.
That means Milan will be playing UEFA Cup, rather than Champions League, football next season and that ignominy could prompt a number of transfer requests from Flamini's new colleagues.
Don't get me wrong, I wish Mathieu all the best for his future career - after all, we shouldn't complain when a player who cost us nothing, leaves for nothing. But when players say they want to stay at a club only to let money change their minds at the 11th hour, then my charitable demeanor evaporates when their luck turns a little bad.
